Be Loud! Carolina @CATS:MKR, People of Earth, and Local Flora

February 1

Doors: 7:00 pm /

Show: 8:00 pm

People of Earth is UNC Chapel Hill-based Progressive rock outfit. Our
unique sound combines elements of funk, math rock, jazz and jam band
improvisation. We believe and try our best to perpetuate the idea that one
must not only wiggle their toes in ecstasy upon hearing music, but
simultaneously engage and grapple with the music in order to absorb its
healing essence. If this resonates with you then so will our music.

Comprising the sound of the Chapel Hill band, Local Flora, is Steve Wood
(guitar and vocals), Charlie Garnett (phat bass and vocals), Eric Sugarman
(guitar and vocals), and Peter Joyce (drums). Local Flora began as a few
casual jams in Steve’s bedroom, without any structured compositions. After
putting together a setlist and beginning to establish a consistent sound,
Local Flora made its debut at Phi Sigma Pi’s Battle of the Bands, where the
band won first place. The band describes their sound as funked out dance
music, with a psychedelic influence. All walks of life are encouraged to
come groove with Local Flora.
