Celebrating 20 years of joyful music making, Old Crow Medicine Show makes its first stop at the NCMA. The band received a major career boost early on from North Carolina legend Doc Watson, who discovered them on a street corner in Boone and invited them to perform at Merlefest. Since then OCMS has won two Grammys, been inducted as members of the Grand Ole Opry, and toured nonstop, occasionally with Willie Nelson, John Prine, Mumford and Sons, Brandi Carlile, or the Avett Brothers.

OCMS has recorded six acclaimed studio albums, including Remedy (2014), which won the Grammy for Best Folk Album, and they were hailed by critics for their reimagining of Bob Dylan’s classic Blonde on Blonde in 2017. AllMusic said OCMS “performs Dylan songs as if they belonged to the band.” Their latest effort, Volunteer, “swings from high-octane fiddle tunes to plaintive ballads” and feels like the band is “just hitting its stride after two decades in the business.”

Old Crow Medicine Show is a not-to-be-missed in performance. As North Carolina novelist Wiley Cash has written, “While Old Crow’s albums are powerful, their live shows are earth scorching.”
